SCI Trophy Score Calculator
Safari Club International scoring: the same beam, tine and circumference measurements as Boone & Crockett, but no deduction for left/right asymmetry and every point counts.
How this works
SCI uses the same physical measurements as Boone & Crockett — main beam length, tine lengths, four circumference (mass) measurements per side, and inside spread — but combines them differently. Where B&C subtracts a symmetry deduction for any difference between the left and right antler, SCI simply adds everything together: both beams, every normal tine, every abnormal or non-typical point, and all eight circumference measurements, with the spread capped at whichever main beam is longer.
\nWhy the two systems disagree on purpose
\nB&C's asymmetry deduction rewards a clean, matched rack and can meaningfully lower the score of an otherwise huge but lopsided animal. SCI's official position is that a trophy's size is what matters, not how symmetrical it is, so nothing gets subtracted and extra points only ever add to the total. Neither approach is more correct — they're just different, and this is why serious trophy hunters often score the same animal under both systems for their respective record books.
Frequently asked questions
Why is my SCI score so much higher than my B&C score for the same deer?
SCI adds every point together with no deduction for left/right asymmetry, while B&C subtracts a symmetry deduction — that structural difference is exactly why SCI scores consistently run higher for the same animal.
Do I need separate typical and non-typical versions for SCI?
No — unlike B&C, SCI doesn't split into typical and non-typical categories with different deduction rules, since nothing gets deducted either way. All points, normal and abnormal, simply add to one total.
Can I use the same measurements I took for a B&C score?
Yes — SCI uses the identical physical measurements (beam lengths, tine lengths, circumferences, spread) as Boone & Crockett, just combined differently, so measurements taken for one scoring system work for both.
