Sight-In / Zero Correction
How many clicks to move your group onto the bullseye.
How this works
Scope turrets move your point of impact by a fixed angular amount per click, and like any angular measurement, the actual inches that click represents grows with distance. This calculator converts your measured offset at the range you actually shot into the exact number of clicks needed at your scope's click size, at that same distance.
Turning offset into direction
A positive vertical offset (shooting high) needs the reticle moved down toward the group, which most scopes label as a "down" adjustment; a positive horizontal offset (shooting right) needs a "left" adjustment. The calculator reports both the click count and which direction to turn, so there's no mental translation needed at the bench.
Frequently asked questions
Which direction do I turn the turret for a "move down" result?
That depends on your specific scope's turret labeling — most scopes mark an arrow for "up" and "down" directly on the dial, so match the calculator's instruction (move up or down) to that marking rather than guessing which way is which.
Why does the same offset need fewer clicks at a shorter range?
Each click moves the point of impact by a fixed angle, and that angle covers fewer inches at a shorter range — so correcting the same inch offset takes more clicks up close and fewer clicks far out.
Should I shoot one shot or a group before adjusting?
A group, if you can — a three-shot group centered and measured gives a much more reliable number to correct from than a single shot, which could be an outlier.
